107 runs in 10 overs! Taskin Ahmed enters unwanted club
What's the story
Bangladesh's pacer Taskin Ahmed has entered the record books by giving away 107 runs in an innings in a List A match.
He did the same during the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) encounter between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Gazi Group Cricketers on March 18.
While his side lost to Gazi Group by 65 runs, Taskin created a new national record for most runs conceded by a Bangladeshi bowler in List A cricket.
Details
Taskin's forgettable performance
After Mohammedan Sporting Club opted to field, Gazi Group posted a mammoth 336 runs for the loss of five wickets.
Anamul Bijoy starred for his side with an unbeaten 149 off 143 balls. Sadikur Rahman and Tofael Ahmed also played crucial innings, scoring 60 and an aggressive 63 off 29 balls, respectively.
But it was Taskin's bowling figures which stole the limelight. However, he took three wickets.
Record
Taskin gets past Shahadat Hossain
The previous record for the most expensive spell by a Bangladeshi bowler was held by Shahadat Hossain. He conceded 104 runs in 10 overs against South Africa A in 2011.
Iqbal Hossain is the only other Bangladesh bowler to leak 100-plus runs in this regard.
In the ongoing tournament, Mukhtar Ali also conceded 99 runs for a wicket against Shinepukur Cricket Club.

Taskin joins this list
Taskin's 107-run thrashing places him in the record books, as he has now recorded the joint 11th-most expensive spell in List A history.
Among those who have conceded more runs than Taskin, Surrey's Stuart Thomas (9-0-108-3) is the only other bowler with three wickets in an innings, as per Wisden.
Netherlands' Bas de Leede tops this list with figures worth 10-0-115-2 against Australia in 2023.
