3rd T20I, New Zealand beat England: List of records broken
New Zealand took a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series against England. The tourists collapsed to a 14-run defeat in the third T20I on Tuesday. Batting first, the Kiwis posted 180/7 after riding on a superb 55 from Colin de Grandhomme. In reply, England managed 166/7 despite Dawid Malan's 55. Here are the list of records broken.
How did the match pan out?
New Zealand didn't get the best of starts and were reeling at 69/3. However, Grandhomme and Taylor added a 66-run stand for the fourth wicket. That calmed the ship as the Kiwis rode on some crucial cameos to post 180. England were sailing in the chase and were 139/2 at one stage. However, they collapsed from there on to surrender the match.
Crucial feats registered by New Zealand batsmen
Colin de Grandhomme amassed his third career T20I fifty. He now has 466 career T20I runs and went past the likes of Jesse Ryder and James Franklin in terms of career T20I runs. Ross Taylor (27) became the third Kiwi batsman to surpass the 1,700-run mark in T20Is. Martin Guptill (33) became the third batsman to surpass 2,350 runs in T20Is (2,359).
Malan registers fifth career T20I fifty
Malan went on to notch his fifth career T20I fifty for the Englishmen. This was just his eighth T20I. He smashed eight fours and a six. He shared a 63-run stand with James Vince (49) for the second wicket. Eoin Morgan (18) needs six more runs to reach the 1,900-run mark in T20Is for England.
New Zealand better head-to-head record against England
This was the 19th T20I match between the two sides. The Kiwis registered their seventh victory against England. This was also the ninth T20I played between the two teams in New Zealand. England still hold a 6-4 advantage.
