David Warner and Shane Watson recorded the highest partnership for Australia in the T20 World Cup in 2012. The duo shared a 133-run opening stand in the Group 2 game against India in Colombo. Watson smashed a 42-ball 72, and Warner scored 63* off 41 balls. As a result, Australia successfully chased down 141 after restricting India to 140/7.
Mitchell Marsh and David Warner: 124 runs, 2021
Warner's power-packed knocks helped Australia win the 2021 T20 World Cup. He slammed 289 runs, the most by an Australian in a T20 WC edition. In the Group 1 match against the West Indies in Abu Dhabi, the Aussies comfortably chased down 158 in 16.2 overs. Australia lost skipper Aaron Finch early before Warner and Mitchell Marsh powered them with a 124-run stand.
Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell: 118 runs, 2014
In 2014, Australia suffered a 16-run defeat to Pakistan in the Group 2 fixture in Mirpur. Chasing 192, Australia were reeling at 8/2 before Glenn Maxwell and Finch added 118 runs. However, the Aussies soon plunged from 126/2 to 163/7 and lost the match. Notably, Finch (65) and Maxwell (74) were the only Australians with double-figure scores.

Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden formed the most destructive opening pair in white-ball cricket during the mid 2000s. They tormented several bowling attacks and replicated this in the inaugural T20 World Cup (2007). Gilchrist and Hayden added 104 runs in a 124-run chase against Bangladesh in Cape Town.
