    England's hopes of qualifying for the Trans-Tasman Tri Series T20 final took a blow as they were beaten by New Zealand by 12 runs in the 4th match.

    This is a third straight loss in the series for the visiting England side including their two previous defeats to Australia.

    Williamson and Guptill steer Black Caps to an imposing 196

    After winning the toss, England decided to field first in the 4th T20I match of the Tri Series tournament.

    Losing Colin Munro early on, opener Martin Guptill (65) and skipper Kane Williamson (72) smashed half-centuries to put on a second-wicket stand of 82 runs.

    Black Caps eventually went on to post a demanding total of 196/5 in 20 overs.

    After 4 T20I matches in the series, Australia sealed their final spot with three wins of the three matches they have played. New Zealand occupy second spot with today's win over England. Beating Australia in the next match will put them in the final.

    With today's 82-run partnership, the duo of Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson have scored a total partnership runs of 1,129, the second most by any pair in the T20 format.

    They share 11 fifty-plus stands in the format, which includes 3 century stands

    They are only second to David Warner and Shane Watson who have 1,154 runs from 37 innings.

    New Zealand's Mark Chapman, who made his debut for New Zealand with today's match, represented Hong Kong before. He played 19 T20I matches for Hong Kong between 2014 and 2016. He is only the 6th player to have played for two different countries in T20-format.

    Tim Southee becomes the leading wicket taker for NZ

    Tim Southee has now become the leading wicket taker from New Zealand.

    Southee has 59 scalps ahead of fellow countryman Nathan McCullum's 58.

    He is also one of top 10 highest T20 wicket-takers.

    His side's score of 196/5 is the joint-highest total made in a T20I match at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington.
