Veteran swashbuckling batsman Chris Gayle scripted history in the T10 League by smashing the joint-fastest fifty. In the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 League, the southpaw scored an unbeaten 84 off 22 balls. The Maratha Arabians posted 97/4 in 10 overs. UAE's Alishan Sharafu scored a 23-ball 33 at the top. Pakistan duo Mohammad Hafeez (20) and Shoaib Malik (15*) made their presence felt as well. For Team Abu Dhabi, Obe McCoy was the pick of the bowlers, claiming two wickets for 20 runs. Tom Helm was terrific, giving away eight runs in his spell.
Gayle's blistering knock floors the Arabians
It was a one-man show when Team Abu Dhabi batted. Gayle was on song and shared a 47-run stand for the opening wicket. After Paul Stirling's dismissal in the third over, Gayle continued in the same vein. He smashed six fours and nine sixes at a strike rate of 381.82. His exploits helped Abu Dhabi win the match in just 5.3 overs.
Gayle smashes joint-fastest T10 fifty
Gayle took just 12 balls to hit a fifty. This helped him equal the fastest fifty in T10 history. The record was held by Mohammad Shahzad for Rajputs in the 2018 edition. Notably, 78 runs out of his 84 came through boundaries. Gayle smashed Sompal Kami for 27 runs in an over as well.
Team Abu Dhabi claim second win of the campaign
Team Abu Dhabi occupy the fourth place in the T10 League 2021 Super League standings. This was their second victory of the campaign as they have four points from five games.
