Suryakumar Yadav's batting struggles persist in Ranji Trophy quarterfinal
What's the story
India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav's batting woes continue.
The latest came in Mumbai's Ranji Trophy quarterfinal against Haryana, where the batter was dismissed for a paltry nine runs.
This comes after a string of low scores in the recently concluded T20I series against England, where he scored just 28 runs in five innings.
Team struggle
Yadav's dismissal contributes to Mumbai's batting collapse
Yadav's dismissal was a huge blow for Mumbai, which led to their batting collapse in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal.
The team lost four wickets in the first 10 overs, including Yadav's, putting them in a precarious position.
Meanwhile, pacer Sumit Kumar rattled SKY's stumps to dent Mumbai even further.
Now, the onus of saving the innings lies on Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur.
Optimism
Yadav remains hopeful despite batting woes
Despite his current struggles, Yadav is hopeful of getting back to his form. He had said so during a training session on Friday.
"Aa jayenge form mein... Time lagega thoda (Will return to form... Will take just a bit of time)," he had said.
His last first-class appearance for Mumbai was in October 2024, which shows how long he has been missing from domestic cricket.
