Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has completed 7,000 runs in men's T20 cricket. The right-handed dasher reached this landmark playing for Mumbai Indians against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter at Wankhede Stadium. He unlocked this achievement with his 31st run in the match. The previous encounter versus the Delhi Capitals marked Suryakumar's return to competitive cricket after an injury.
Eighth Indian with this feat
Suryakumar became only the eighth Indian player to complete 7,000 runs in T20 cricket. He is only behind Virat Kohli (12,313), Rohit Sharma (11,312), Shikhar Dhawan (9,797), Suresh Raina (8,654), MS Dhoni (7,310), Robin Uthappa (7,272), and KL Rahul (7,192) in terms of T20 runs. Notably, only five other Indian batters have more than 6,000 T20 runs.

SKY returns to action
Suryarkumar suffered a Grade 2 tear to his ankle during the South Africa T20I series in December. He then missed the T20I series against Afghanistan due to hernia issues. The Indian batter was expected to be completely fit by the start of the IPL 2024. However, the NCA didn't give him a green signal to start. Suryakumar has finally returned with a bang.
