IPL 2024: SRH reach playoffs after GT clash gets abandoned
Match number 66 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans has been abandoned due to rain. With a solitary point earned, SRH have moved to third in the 10-team standings. They have 15 points after 13 matches. SRH have the chance to finish second. GT, who were already eliminated, finish their campaign with 12 points.
SRH join KKR and RR
SRH have one match to go in the league stage and are still in the hunt for a second-place finish. SRH are the third side to reach the playoffs after Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. KKR have already been confirmed as table-toppers. The likes of SRH, RR and Chennai Super Kings could fight for the second place.
Teams in fray for second position
SRH need to beat Punjab Kings on Sunday, and hope that Rajasthan lose their final group game. In that case, SRH will finish on 17 points and RR will remain behind (16). However, CSK too have a game to play. They also have a better NRR than SRH and Royals. CSK will need to win and hope both SRH and RR lose their matches.
GT's campaign ends
IPL 2022 champions and 2023 runners-up GT finished their campaign with five victories and seven defeats. Two of their matches got abandoned due to rain. They have 12 points (NRR -1.063).
