Revisiting Sunil Narine's stellar campaign in IPL 2024
What's the story
Sunil Narine was instrumental to Kolkata Knight Riders' triumph in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL).
The team lifted its third title as the Caribbean all-rounder constantly delivered both with the bat and the ball.
Narine's phenomenal season also earned him the Most Valuable Player award.
With the 2025 IPL being just around the corner, let's revisit Narine's dream season last year.
Performance
Narine's batting and bowling stats
Notably, Narine was KKR's highest run-getter in IPL 2024, scoring 488 runs at an impressive strike rate of 180.74.

Narine clocked these numbers
As per ESPNcricinfo, Narine's economy of 6.69 was the second-best among bowlers with at least three wickets in the season.
He was only behind Mumbai Indians speedster Jasprit Bumrah, who claimed 20 scalps (ER: 6.48).
Interestingly, no other KKR bowler had an economy of under eight last year.

Achievements
A record-breaking season for Narine
IPL 2024 saw Narine cross the 400-run mark for the first time in a season.
He smoked three fifties and a ton.
As per ESPNcricinfo, he became the second all-rounder after Shane Watson (472 runs and 17 wickets in 2008) to slam 450-plus runs and take at least 15 wickets in an IPL season.
In Match 31 against Rajasthan Royals, Narine slammed his maiden century in T20 cricket. He scored a fiery 56-ball 109 (13 fours and 6 sixes).

He also became the third player after Rohit Sharma and Shane Watson to record a hat-trick and a century in the IPL.
Further, he is the first player to complete the double of 1,500 runs and 150 wickets for a franchise in IPL history.
He has scored 1,534 runs and taken 180 wickets across his IPL career.
Recognition
Multiple MVP awards in IPL
Before IPL 2024, Narine was named the Most Valuable Player in two other seasons (2012 and 2018).
He is hence now the only player to win this award in three seasons.
Narine scored 357 runs and 17 wickets in 2018.
The spinner was also the Player of the Tournament in KKR's 2012 title-winning campaign, his debut season.
He claimed 24 wickets that season.
