Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh named India's new selectors
The BCCI's Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) has recommended the names of former Indian cricketers Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh for the senior men's selection committee panel. Notably, as per the three-member committee, Joshi will be appointed as the Chairman of the senior men's selection committee. Joshi and Harvinder will pick India's squad for upcoming ODIs
The newly appointed selectors will replace MSK Prasad and Gagan Khoda as their four-year term came to end in November last year. Both Joshi and Harvinder will be involved in the selection process for India's upcoming home ODI series against South Africa. Earlier, more than 40 applications were received by the committee for the two positions of national selectors.
The duo will be working in the three-member panel
Joshi and Harvinder will be added to the five-member selection panel. The duo will join Devang Gandhi, Sarandeep Singh and Jatin Paranjape, who are yet to finish their term later this year, in the selection committee. They were among the five candidates shortlisted for the job, while the other three were Venkatesh Prasad, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan and Rajesh Chauhan.
Joshi made his debut in 1996
The former Indian spinner Sunil Joshi made his international debut in a Test against England in 1996. He finished with 41 scalps in 15 Tests at 35.85. The southpaw featured in 69 ODIs and snapped up as many wickets. Besides, his compatriot Harvinder Singh is a former seamer who represented India in 19 internationals. He picked up 28 wickets at an average of 28.35
