Pro-Kabaddi player Rohit Chillar arrested over wife's suicide
National-level Kabaddi player Rohit Chillar was arrested in Mumbai, in connection with his wife Lalita's suicide. Chillar was charged with abetment of suicide. His father Vijay Singh who surrendered earlier in Delhi, pleaded his innocence. His father alleged that Lalita was against Rohit living with his parents and wanted him to abandon them and live separately. Vijay has been sent to 14-day judicial custody.

Rohit Chillar is a Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) player who hails from Nizampur, Delhi. He is with the Navy since 2009. Chillar was part of the Indian national team that won Gold at the 2016 South Asian Games. He played for Patna Pirates in the 3rd season of PKL, who were also league champions. In the 4th season, he played for PKL's Bengaluru Bulls.

In 2016, during his inaugural season, for the Patna team, Rohit Chillar was adjudged the "Most valuable Player" in the third season of the Pro Kabaddi League.
Rohit Chillar's wife commits suicide
Kabaddi-star Rohit Chillar's wife Lalita committed suicide by hanging herself at her home in Delhi. She left a 2-hour long audio message along with a suicide note where she accused Chillar and his family of harassing her for dowry. In her note she said, "I'm not strong enough to survive this, I have decided to quit." The couple had gotten married in March 2016.

In the suicide note Lalita alleged that Rohit and his parents "mentally and physically harassed" her over dowry and her past, this being Lalita's second marriage. She mentioned that Rohit frequently remained out of Delhi which forced her to stay alone. Lalita said that on 15 Oct, "she was asked by her husband to leave him for his happiness, so she took this step."
Rohit claims innocence in a Facebook video
Days after his wife's suicide, Rohit Chillar released a Facebook video where he denied all the allegations and said that he never hurt his wife. He also said that he was ready to cooperate with the police in the investigation.
