Injured Stokes and Woakes ruled out of ongoing Australia series
Depleted Australia can breathe a sigh of relief after England all-rounders Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes were ruled out for the remainder of the five-match ODI series. Ben Stokes, reportedly, suffered a left hamstring injury ahead of the series. Further, Chris Woakes suffered a right quad tear and will miss out on the remaining 3 matches. Here's more!
Stokes hopes to be fit in time for India T20s
Ben Stokes suffered an injury before the second Test against Pakistan but was named in the squad for the ODI series. The all-rounder will still be a part of the squad for fourth and fifth ODIs but he is unlikely to play any part. Stokes is hoping to be fully fit to play against India in the T20s which begin on July 3.
Woakes sidelined till India ODI series
Injury of Chris Woakes seems a little more serious than his compatriot. He is expected to be on the sidelines at least till the ODI series against India, which starts on July 12. Woakes picked up his injury in the second Test against Pakistan. Further, he also has a chronic right knee problem for which he needs some rest.
England lead 5 match ODI series 2-0
England can afford to miss out on their two key all-rounders as they have claimed a comfortable 2-0 lead in the 5-match ODI series. Post the ODI series, they will play against Australia in a lone T20 match before shifting their focus to welcoming Virat Kohli and his boys. India will play 3 T20s and 3 ODIs, followed by a 5-match Test series.
