Smith's hunger will motivate him in IPL 2019: Warne
Steve Smith arrived in Jaipur on Sunday to join the Rajasthan Royals training camp. Smith is raring to have a crack in the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League after missing the T20 league last season. RR brand ambassador Shane Warne has backed Smith to excel in the IPL as he prepares for a return to the Australian squad.
A lot of excitement surrounding Smith
Alongside Smith, Sunrisers Hyderabad's David Warner was also welcomed back with a lot of cheer. The two cricketers will see their 12-month ball-tampering ban come to an end on March 29. Recently, they were received with a warm welcome by their Australian team members in UAE. And Warne has stated that Smith's hunger and passion will be a big thing for him.
Warne lauds Smith's experience and hunger
"Having Smith's experience around and his hunger and passion as the only cricket that is before World Cup, will be a big thing for him. I have no doubt that Smith and Warner will get back to their best as they were before," Warne said.
Great to be back, says Smith
'I think Smith will be giving a lot'
Warne also felt that Smith's return will boost RR. "He will be so excited to turn up and play cricket. That's what he loves doing and that's what he is very very good at. Smith and Warner are two of the best players in world cricket, I think Smith will be giving a lot and integrate with the team," Warne told PTI.
Smith and Warner will look ahead to make things count
Both Smith and Warner would have been eligible to play for the national team in the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan since his ban would be lifted from March 29. But, Cricket Australia selectors wanted both these cricketers to earn a comeback into the ODI line-up. Therefore, the IPL 12 season, will be massive for these two cricketers to gain solid practice.
Warne feels RR one of the favorites to lift title
"I think when you look back to Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, they have generally been the underdogs.A lot of people are tipping Royals to win it and I think they are one of the favorites this year," Warne said.
