India defeated South Africa by eight wickets to reach the semi-finals of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. South African openers Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock scored their third 50-plus partnership against India. Their previous 50 plus stands eventually converted to 152 and 194. However, Ravichandran Ashwin cut short their partnership, when Amla was caught behind by MS Dhoni for 35 runs. The duo scored 76 runs in 17.3 overs, at a run rate of 4.34.
India's dominance over South Africa continues
India registered their fourth victory against South Africa to continue their dominance in the ICC Champions Trophy. India have a 4-0 win/loss record against the Proteas, having defeated them previously in 2000, 2002 and 2013 tournament.
AB de Villiers's 8th run-out in ICC tournaments
South Africa captain AB de Villiers became a victim of Hardik Pandya as he got run-out for a mere score of 16 in the 29th over. It was the eighth time that the star batsman lost his wicket this way in the ICC tournaments and is behind former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, who has nine run-outs in ICC tournaments to his name.

India have executed six run outs in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, the most by any team. Three of them came in today's match, two against Sri Lanka and one against Pakistan.
2017 Champions Trophy's highest scorer
With 78 runs today, Shikhar Dhawan went past New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson to become the highest run scorer of the 2017 Champions Trophy. Dhawan has scored 271 runs from three innings at an average of 90.33. He also became the fastest to reach 1000-runs in ICC tournaments, reaching the mark in 16 innings, beating Sachin Tendulkar's record of 18 innings.
Most semi-final appearances at Champions Trophy
India will be making their fifth semi-final performance in the Champions Trophy since 1998. It is the joint most along with South Africa.
