The sixth edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) finale saw ATK beat Chennaiyin FC by a 3-1 margin on Sunday in Goa. The match which was played behind closed doors saw Javier Hernandez score a brace, whereas, Edu Garcia scored one. There were several astounding numbers witnessed in the competition. How did the match pan out?
Hernandez gave ATK the lead in the 10th minute. The Spaniard hit the ball into the ground and the bounce did the rest. After half-time, David Williams sets up Edu Garcia for the second goal for ATK. Nerijus Valskis pulled one back for Chennaiyin in the 69th minute. Hernandez then killed off the game in injury-time.
Third title win for ATK, Habas scripts record
This was the third title win for ATK in six seasons. Notably, ATK have a 100% record in finals. The eastern giants won the ISL titles in 2014, 2016 and 2019-20. Antonio Habas became the first coach to win two ISL titles as manager. He also denied Owen Coyle his maiden title as a manager.
Gurpreet Singh Sandhu excels for Bengaluru FC
Bengaluru FC goal-keeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu retained the ISL Golden glove award after another sparkling season. He had an impressive minutes per goal ratio of 122.14. The Indian custodian had the most clean sheets during a single season with a tally of 11. He also made 49 saves in 19 appearances and conceded just 14 goals.
ISL 6: Some crucial stats of the season
Subhasish Roy made the most saves in the 2019-20 season (55). FC Goa's Ahmed Jahouh made the most passes (1,279). He also made the most tackles (182). FC Goa ended up with the most goals scored (51) and registered the most passes as well (9,620).
