IPL 2025: CSK appoint Sridharan Sriram as assistant bowling coach
What's the story
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have named Sridharan Sriram as their assistant bowling coach for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
The former Indian cricketer will be joining an experienced coaching panel that includes Stephen Fleming as head coach, batting coach Michael Hussey, and bowling consultant Eric Simons.
Notably, five-time champions CSK failed to reach the playoffs in IPL 2024.

Sriram's cricketing journey and coaching experience
Sriram, who has played for India in eight ODIs, also had short IPL stints with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2010 and Delhi Capitals in 2011.
He has alos been in the dresseing rooms of Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants.
The 49-year-old brings a wealth of coaching experience to CSK. He has previously been Australian cricket team's spin bowling coach and later a technical consultant for Bangladesh.
New role
Sriram to guide CSK's spin department in IPL 2025
In his new role at CSK, Sriram will be tasked with guiding a talented spin department comprising of players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Gopal, and Noor Ahmad.
The team will begin their IPL 2025 campaign with a match against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians at home on March 23.
This appointment is another feather in Sriram's coaching cap as he joins one of the most successful teams in IPL history.

CSK in IPL 2024
CSK's campaign in IPL 2024 came to a heartbreaking end as they bowed out after losing their final league-stage fixture to RCB.
Though the target was 219, CSK needed 201 to secure a playoff berth. However, they were restricted to 191/7.
The Super Kings, under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad, finished fifth in the table with seven wins in 14 matches (NRR: +0.392).
