Records broken in Ind vs SL T20I
India turned in yet another solid performance to complete a clean sweep in Sri Lanka. Having already whitewashed the Lankans in Tests and ODIs, Virat Kohli and co. humbled the Lankans in yesterday's T20I. Sri Lanka had managed a competitive total of 170 but fifties from Kohli and Manish Pandey paved the way for India's victory. Here, we list the records broken last night.
Blunder at toss, India actually didn't win the toss
There was a huge blunder during toss yesterday. Apparently, match referee Andy Pycroft had confirmed that Upul Tharanga had won the toss, but Murali Karthik claimed, "Heads it is," and proceeded to have a chat with Kohli, asking his decision.
Watch the blunder which happened at toss yesterday!
Kohli setting the bar higher with every match
Kohli became the 33rd player to complete 15,000 international-runs and the only one to average 50+. Surpassing McCullum's tally of 1006 runs, Kohli has now accrued 1016 runs in T20I chases, the most by any batsman. He is now third on the list of leading run-getters in T20Is behind McCullum and Tillakaratne. Kohli now has 6907 runs in T20s, the most by an Indian.
Whitewash and Dhoni records
India blanked Sri Lanka 9-0 across all formats, the joint-biggest margin for a whitewash in a tour with Australia having whitewashed Pakistan 9-0 at home in 2009-10. Indian team is the first one to whitewash the home side across all formats in a tour. MS Dhoni's average (49.18) while chasing in T20Is is the second-highest average among players with at least 500 runs.
