Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Chennai Super Kings: Past play-off performances
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings will lock horns in Mumbai in a battle which will determine the first finalist of 2018 IPL. Both sides will be looking to claim this crucial victory in order to avoid the second qualifier. It is a classic battle between best batting side against best bowlers. How have these two teams performed in the qualifiers in the past?
Super Kings are IPL's most consistent performers
CSK are one of the most consistent teams in IPL. Out of the 11 seasons, the Super Kings have played 9. Notably, they have made it to the play-offs in all these nine seasons. They have won the IPL trophy twice. In 2010, they defeated Mumbai Indians in the final, and then successfully defended their title in 2011 after beating RCB.
CSK have more experience in IPL
Chennai's worst performance in the IPL came in 2009 when they were beaten by RCB in the semi-final. In the 2014 season, Dhoni and his men finished 3rd after being outdone by the brilliance of Kings XI Punjab. The Chennai Super Kings have made it to 6 IPL finals. They have finished as runners-up in 4 seasons: 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2015.
Sunrisers Hyderabad too are experienced campaigners
Sunrisers made it to the IPL play-offs for the first time in their debut season in 2013. SRH finished 4th and were outclassed by Royals. SRH's best campaign was in 2016, where they won both the play-off matches and then beat Royal Challengers to win their maiden title. In 2017, they weren't that fortunate and were ousted in their first play-off game.
