IPL 2019: SRH beat DC, here are the records broken
Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Delhi Capitals rather comfortably in match number 16 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 season. DC paid the price of being too aggressive on a sluggish Kotla pitch and that too against a top quality bowling attack. Batting first, they managed 129/8. SRH then continued the momentum with the bat to chase down the target. Here are the records broken.
Bairstow, Warner amass fourth successive 50-plus stand
Jonny Bairstow hit a quick-fire 48. He now has 246 runs in four matches for SRH. Bairstow alongside David Warner added 64 runs for the opening wicket. This was the fourth consecutive 50-plus opening stand between the two. They equalled the likes of Gautam Gambhir/Robin Uthappa and Shikhar Dhawan/David Warner in terms of consecutive 50-plus stands (4). Chris Gayle/KL Rahul hold the record (5).
Iyer surpasses Dada in terms of career IPL runs
Mohammad Nabi picked up 2/21 and now has six wickets this season. Nabi has recorded the best economy-rate among bowlers in IPL 2019 (4.00). Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/27) got off the mark in terms of wickets in IPL 2019. He now has 122 career IPL scalps. Shreyas Iyer (43) now has 1,366 runs. He went past Sourav Ganguly (1,349) in terms of IPL runs.
DC's struggle at the death with the bat continues
DC haven't quite found it going at the death with the bat since the blitz against Mumbai Indians. They had managed 82/3 against MI. Since then, DC have got a tally of 29/4 vs CSK, 45/4 vs KKR, 24/7 vs KXIP and 44/3 against SRH.
How did the match pan out?
DC never got the momentum with the bat against SRH. They lost wickets at regular intervals. Skipper Iyer showed substance after applying himself well. All the SRH bowlers got wickets with Nabi leading the line. Axar Patel's late cameo helped DC get to 129. In reply, the heroics of Bairstow gave SRH the platform to build the chase to perfection and seal the victory.
SRH continue their domination over Delhi in IPL
This was the 13th meeting between the two sides. SRH now have a 9-4 advantage over Delhi. At the Kotla, SRH improved their tally to four wins out of five matches. This was SRH's third win on the trot in IPL 2019.
