IPL 2019: SRH beat KXIP, here are the records broken
Sunrisers Hyderabad notched two points, as they defeated Kings XI Punjab by 45 runs in the match number 45 of IPL 2019. The win helped SRH retain their fourth spot, while KXIP stayed on the sixth. Batting first, SRH posted a mammoth total of 212/6, courtesy of David Warner (81). In reply, KXIP stumbled against the spin of Rashid Khan. Here're the records broken.
SRH register their second highest score in power-play
SRH's top order put up another strong show as they scored their highest power-play total of 2019. They scored 77 runs, which is only two runs short of their record of 79, scored against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017. Interestingly, out of their top five power-play scores, three have come this year, while all have come playing in Hyderabad.
David Warner scripts another half-century
SRH opener David Warner continued his run scoring form in the ongoing IPL, as he equaled his own record of the most half-centuries in a season. Warner has so far scored nine half-centuries this IPL, while he had done the same during the 2016 edition. The list is led by Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli, who scored 11 half-centuries during the 2016 season.
Warner scores most consecutive 50s against KXIP
Warner has scored seventh-most runs in an IPL season
Warner has now scored the seventh-most runs in an IPL season. He has scored 692 runs this season, while his highest is 848 in 2016. The list is led by Kohli, who scored 973 the same season.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman concedes third-most runs in an IPL match
KXIP spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman has now become the third-most expensive bowler in an IPL match. Mujeeb conceded 66 runs against SRH tonight, which is also the most by a spinner. Basil Thampi tops the list with 70 runs for SRH against RCB in 2018, followed by Ishant Sharma, who too gave away 66 for RCB against Chennai Super Kings in 2013.
SRH score second-highest total in IPL
SRH continued to break barriers as their fine run continued this season. They scored their second-highest total in the IPL (212/6) tonight. While their highest total to date is 231/2, against RCB this season, their third-highest is 209/3, against KKR in 2017. Notably, all their top three highest totals have come while playing at home.
Opening bowlers script unwanted record
Rashid Khan second to take 50+ wickets for SRH
Rashid Khan became the second bowler to claim more than 50 wickets in the IPL for SRH, after Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
How did the match pan out?
KXIP skipper Ravichandran Ashwin won the toss and elected to field first. However, the decision turned out to be a nightmare as Warner played a boisterous knock of 81 that propelled SRH to a total of 212/6. In reply, it was SRH's charismatic spinner Rashid, whose lethal spell of 3/21 inflicted damage to KXIP's batting line-up, as SRH raced away with a win.
