India beat New Zealand in first ODI: Here're records broken
India took a 1-0 lead in the five-match ODI series against New Zealand, as they thrashed the Kiwis by eight wickets in Napier on Wednesday. India bowled out the Kiwis for a paltry score of 157 after Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav ran riot. The visitors chased down the target with ease, with Shikhar Dhawan scoring a half-century. This was India's third victory out of seven ODIs here at the McLean Park in Napier. Their earlier two wins had come in 1999 and 2009. This was also India's third successive ODI victory this year.
Dhawan scores 5,000 ODI runs for India
Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan surpassed the 5,000-run mark in ODI cricket. Dhawan became the second fastest Indian to achieve this feat. He also equalled Brian Lara (118 innings) to get to this mark. He became the 13th Indian to score over 5,000 runs in the 50-over format. Dhawan could surpass former Indian cricketers Gautam Gambhir (5,238) and Ajay Jadeja (5,359) next.

Shami is fastest Indian to take 100 ODI wickets
Mohammed Shami became the fastest Indian to take 100 ODI wickets. Shami went past a century of scalps in his 56th match. He eclipsed the record of former pacer Irfan Pathan (59). Shami picked up 3/19 and now has 102 wickets under his belt. Shami is also the joint-sixth fastest in the world to 100 scalps. Afghanistan's Rashid Khan leads the show (44 matches).
Kuldeep notches this special feat in New Zealand
India's wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav was at his best and picked up four wickets (4/39). Kuldeep now has the second best ODI bowling figures in New Zealand. Michael Rippon of Netherlands (4/37) has the best bowling figures. Kuldeep also has the third best ODI bowling figures by an Indian in New Zealand. Anil Kumble (5/33) and Javagal Srinath (4/23) lead the proceedings.

Kane Williamson showed his prowess with the bat after a gritty 64. The Kiwi skipper scored his sixth successive ODI fifty against India at home. His scores versus India at home read 71, 77, 65, 60, 88, 64. Williamson notched his 36th career ODI fifty.
