Christmas Special: 'Marvel's Spider-Man' for PS4 adds Tobey Maguire's suit
The holiday season is in full swing with Christmas only a few days away. Moreover, with the year ending, it was time for one of the most loved games of 2018, Marvel's Spider-Man to grant the wish of its PS4 gamers. Insomniac teases 'highly requested' suit, terms it as holiday gift
The studio, Insomniac, shared the love with Spider-Man fans, as it announced on Twitter that a new suit titled the 'Webbed Suit' would be available for free in-game. The suit is, of course, a rendition of the one worn by Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man in the Sam Raimi directed trilogy. Insomniac teased the suit as a holiday gift and said it had been 'highly requested'.

The tussle between fans and studio regarding the suit
Raimi's suit has been welcomed by fans who had long been requesting Insomniac. With the third DLC Silver Lining releasing today, December 21, demands grew heated, as fans thought Insomniac wasn't listening. Understandably, the entitlement from fans irked the developer, which pointed out "listening doesn't mean we always will do what people tell us to." Now, its inclusion puts the quarrel to rest.
Insomniac listened, it just took them some time
While Insomniac did take a long time to introduce the fan-favorite suit, it was unfair for fans to get nasty with the developer. For licensed property to be implemented in video-games, there is a long bureaucratic process to be navigated. However, having crossed all layers, to get the final nod to implement the suit, the timing, right before Christmas, could not have been better.
Along with suit, game to have new frames, difficulty mode
The free suit is being added as part of an in-game patch, which will also include new frames, stickers to Photo Mode, filters and a difficulty mode titled 'Friendly Neighborhood'. It is also expected to address certain minor ongoing issues in-game.
Why all the fuss about Raimi's Spider Man suit?
A lot of comic book fans are not fond of Raimi's Spider-Man. The films portrayed Peter Parker in a glum manner, unlike comics. Nonetheless, the 2002 movie was iconic and a lot of current gamers grew up with those films, myself included. Therefore, I can relate to the nostalgia that went into demanding the suit we all grew up watching Spider-Man wear on screen.
