Ravi Shastri explains why MS Dhoni took the ball
Speculations surrounding MS Dhoni's retirement came to the fore when the former India skipper took the match ball from the umpires, post India's loss in the third ODI against England. Several reports questioned Dhoni's gesture and the possibility of him calling it quits following a poor campaign. But Ravi Shastri has put rumors to rest after explaining the reason behind the move. Here's more!

What has Ravi Shastri claimed?
As per reports, India head coach Ravi Shastri stated that the legendary cricketer, MS Dhoni, took the match ball from match umpires Bruce Oxenford and Michael Gough, as he wanted to show the ball to Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun. Shastri said that the ball was shown to Arun to get an idea about the conditions, following the wear and tear it had endured.
Why Dhoni is still the best?
MS Dhoni is still one of the best in business. The wicket-keeper batsman's flexibility behind the stumps and his sharpness to effect stumpings and run-outs can be matched by a few across the globe. His guidance to spinners is immense as admitted by Kuldeep Yadav. With the World Cup less than a year away, there is no point in trying out a new option.
MSD's performances which triggered retirement talks
In our view, Dhoni is being treated unfairly. If one looks at his innings in both the games, the player ran out of partners at the other end. In India's chase in the second game, Dhoni was booed by fans in the stadium which was uncalled for. In the next game, if not for him, then India wouldn't have posted 256, batting first.
