South Africa vs India 5th ODI: Pre-match analysis

    What's the story

After losing the 4th ODI, Kohli and Co. will resume the action when they take on South Africa in the 5th ODI at St George's Park in Port Elizabeth.

If India win today, the men in blue will register their first series victory on South African soil.

Here is a report on how India have performed historically at the St George's Park.

    6th time lucky?

India have never won at St George's Park, Port Elizabeth

Since 1992, a total of 39 ODIs have been played at St George's Park.

The first ODI to be played at this ground was between India and South Africa in December 1992, where the hosts emerged victorious by 6 wickets.

India have played 5 times at this venue, but have never tasted victory. They even lost to Kenya on this ground in October 2001.

    Unique flavour

South Africa have been dominant at Port Elizabeth

The home team has been victorious on 20 occasions, whereas the visitors have been triumphant just 11 times.

The team batting 1st has won 19 games, while the team bowling first has also won 19 times.

This ground is also famous for its traditional brass band which adds to the flavour of the venue.

    Low scoring contest?

St George's park is not a batting paradise

The highest total recorded on this ground was posted by Pakistan in 2002 against South Africa.

The green brigade scored 335/6 against the hosts.

The lowest total is under the name of New Zealand, when they were bowled out for 112 by Australia during the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup.

    Bowler's paradise?

David Miller has the second highest score here

The highest total successfully chased was by Australia in 2002, when they scored 330/7 to beat South Africa by 3 wickets.

David Miller has the second highest score on this ground, with an unbeaten 130 against West Indies in 2015.

The highest score was posted by Pakistan's Saleem Elahi when he scored a 135-run innings against South Africa in December 2002.
