India beat SA to clinch T20I series, here're records broken
India defeated South Africa by 7 runs to clinch the 3 match T20Is series 2-1. The men in blue, who were without the services of regular captain Virat Kohli, were put to bat first and set a target of 173 for the hosts. South Africa struggled to play on the slow pitch and could manage just 165/6. Here are the records that were broken.
Raina blitz propels India to 172
South Africa won the toss and put India to bat first. After losing Rohit Sharma early, Suresh Raina's blitz put India in a comfortable position. Raina's dismissal saw a flurry of wickets fall, with none of the middle order batsmen scoring big. However, cameos from Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik ensured India reached 172 for the loss of 7 wickets.
Dhawan is the top scorer of T20I series
Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan finished as the top scorer of the T20I series with 143 runs to his name. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Junior Dala finished as the top wicket-takers with 7 scalps each in the series.
Kohli ends tour of top scorer
Kohli ends the South Africa tour with 871 runs in 14 innings, which is the most by any captain on an away tour, taking all 3 formats into consideration. The previous best was by former South African captain Graeme Smith, who scored 803 in 13 innings during the tour of England in 2003.
Dala has been the thorn in Rohit's flesh
Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Junior Dala in all the three T20Is of this series. India's T20l specialist, Suresh Raina smashed his very first ball of the innings for a six. On the other hand, Dhawan's first boundary in the innings came in the 11th over after he had faced 29 balls.
Kohli rested due to a stiff back
Indian skipper Virat Kohli missed the 3rd T20I due to a stiff back. Kohli was just 17 runs away from becoming the first Indian and the third player overall to score 2,000 runs in Twenty20 Internationals. Wicket-keeper batsman, Dinesh Karthik replaced Kohli in third and final T20. Rohit Sharma led the team in Kohli's absence.
Duminy is Axar Patel's nightmare
JP Duminy has always managed to get the better of Axar Patel in T20Is. Out of the 18 balls Duminy has faced, he has scored 44 runs and 36 of them have come in sixes. Axar has never managed to dismiss the South African.
