SA vs AUS: Markram scores a ton but Aussies fightback
Aiden Markram's emphatic knock of 152 runs was the highlight of the day as South Africa reached 313/6 at stumps. The hosts, who lead the controversial series 2-1, were cruising at 247/2 before the Aussies hit back with a flurry of wickets. Markram shared two 50+ stands besides a 105-run partnership with AB de Villiers to propel South Africa's charge at Johannesburg.
Markram a delight to watch in this series
The opening batsman scored his second Test ton of the series and looks in great form. His 143 in the first Test was bettered by the 152-run knock. This is his highest score in Tests. Markram had also scored a 84-run knock in the previous match He is the highest run scorer (443) in the series and is followed by AB de Villiers (421).
AB de Villiers continues his run-fest
The legendary South African senior player, who has 421 runs in this series, is having a great year till now. AB de Villiers notched his 4th half century of the series with a splendid 69 run-knock on Day 1. He had also registered a ton in the 2nd Test. The celebrated batsman had earlier amassed two match-winning half-centuries against India in January 2018.
Australia hit back SA with quick scalps
There was something to cheer for jaded Australia at stumps on Day 1. They came back hard and picked four quick wickets in the last session. New man Chadd Sayers picked up a brace as the hardworking Pat Cummins took 3/53.
