Sophie Luff appointed as Somerset Women's first-ever professional captain

Sophie Luff has been announced the first-ever professional captain of Somerset Women, for the upcoming Women's County competition.
The 31-year-old cricketer has a long-standing association with Somerset, having represented their junior teams before making her senior debut in 2009.
In her career thus far, she has played 74 List A matches and scored an impressive 2,330 runs at an average of 43.14 with a top score of 138*.

Luff's experience and leadership
Luff's wealth of experience includes captaining the county side between 2017 and 2022 and the Taunton-based Western Storm in 2020.
She became the first player to complete a century of appearances for Storm, scoring more than 1,760 runs in List A cricket at an average of 50.54 with a top score of 157*, as per ESPNcricinfo.
She also has 850 T20 runs at an average of 25.90 with a top score of 78*.
