Solskjaer is unhappy with players post Everton loss: Details here
The fans of Manchester United witnessed a heart-break when they saw their club succumb to a 0-4 defeat against Everton at Goodison Park, on Sunday. The defeat has jeopardized United's chances of sealing a top-four spot in the Premier League table this year. Post the loss, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemed upset as he said he is unsure if the players care anymore.
Four different scorers shock United as Everton rise to seventh
After a string of poor performances in EPL, United were in a desperate search of a win to climb back to the top-four. However, Everton's Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lucas Digne and Theo Walcott took advantage of United's sloppy gameplay and scored four goals. Notably, United could only manage one shot on target in the entire match, while immature passes ruined United's momentum.
Solskjaer unsure of players, but says he will be successful
Following the brutal defeat, Solskjaer tore into the United squad as he said they need a 'reality check'. Solskjaer added that the players need to come up with answers, and if they want to stay with this club, it has to mean more. Solskjaer concluded by saying that he would be successful here and has identified players who won't be a part of it.
Solskjaer apologizes to United fans
The manager said, "We have got to apologise to the fans because they were absolutely fantastic...They were unbelievable again and they never, ever moaned at our players. They have been supportive and I am sure they will be on Wednesday night."
Solskjaer not happy with the fitness of United players
Solskjaer went on to say that there is a problem with the fitness of the United players. Their fitness is nowhere near good, and in order to win games, one needs to be fit, rather than talented. He added that he wants his team to be the hardest-working team in the league, like they were under Sir Alex Ferguson.
United and Solskjaer eye Manchester City and Chelsea success
United have a tough road ahead if they want to finish in top-four. They take on arch-rivals Manchester City at home on Wednesday night. City are fighting Liverpool for the title. It would be followed by another home game against Chelsea on Sunday. The Blues too are battling for a top-four spot. Judging by the current performance, United do need a miracle to survive.
