Pogba wants Solskjaer to become permanent manager of Manchester United
Manchester United mid-fielder Paul Pogba wants Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to become the permanent manager of the club. Ole took over as interim boss after Jose Mourinho was sacked in December 2018. Since then, the club has witnessed a transformation in terms of winning matches as well as extracting the best out of the squad. Pogba said that the players want him to stay.
I have a great relationship with him: Pogba
"Of course we want him to stay. The results have been great. I have a great relationship with him, he has a great relationship with the players. When a player is happy, he wants to remain happy. Solskjaer deserves it," said Pogba to Sky Sports.
United have a lot to fight for
United are fighting for a top four finish in the Premier League this season under Solskjaer. They are currently fifth in the rankings and with eight matches to go, one will expect the side to give it all. Besides the league, United are also alive in the UEFA Champions League. They will be up against Barcelona in the quarter-finals.
Pogba happy with the atmosphere under Ole
The most important change which Solskjaer brought at United has been a boost in morale. Players seem happy and there is more freedom. Pogba also highlighted the same. "He is a really happy coach that gave confidence back to the players. This gave us the freedom to play and enjoy football again because maybe we lost that with the results that we had before."
A lot has changed for Pogba since Ole took over
Under Jose, Frenchman Pogba endured a difficult time since last season. There were constant reports of the two personalities going hard at each other. The mid-fielder was often benched in important matches. Since Solskjaer took over, Pogba has once again become the fulcrum. He has been among the goals and assists and Solskjaer has instilled plenty of confidence in him.
Madrid a dream club, but Pogba is happy at United
Pogba was linked with a move away from the club, with Spain being a likely destination. When asked about his thoughts on suitors Real Madrid, the player said, "Real Madrid is one of the biggest clubs in the world. I've always said it is a dream club for every player." But he added that he is happy at Manchester United.
Solskjaer is likely to get the job: Our take
Solskjaer is likely to get the job irrespective of how United finish the season. Their chief target Mauricio Pochettino is likely to stay at Tottenham and with players being happy under Ole, the decision seems to be an easy one to make.
