    What's the story

Smriti Mandhana has created a new record in women's cricket, scoring the fastest Women's ODI century by an Indian woman.

She accomplished the feat during the third ODI against Ireland at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.

The 28-year-old stand-in captain reached the milestone in just 70 deliveries, bettering Harmanpreet Kaur's previous record of 87 balls against South Africa last year.

Mandhana eventually departed after scoring 135.

    Scoring details

Mandhana's century: A blend of boundaries and sixes

Mandhana's record-breaking century, her 10th in WODI cricket, was a treat to watch.

This triple-figure score now becomes the joint-seventh fastest in women's ODI history, equaling former England cricketer Charlotte Edwards's feat from 2012.

Meanwhile, Australia's Meg Lanning owns the record for the fastest WODI hundred, having accomplished the milestone off just 45 balls against New Zealand in 2012.

    First Indian with this feat

Mandhana became the first Indian and fourth player overall to complete 10 WODI tons.

She has joined the likes of Australia's Lanning (15), New Zealand's Suzie Bates (13), and England's Tammy Beaumont (10).

The Indian opener also became the second Indian after Mithali Raj to complete 500 fours in WODIs (now 504).

    Team performance

Mandhana and Rawal's partnership strengthens India's position

Mandhana and her fellow opener Pratika Rawal put up a strong 233-run partnership in the match.

This is the third-highest stand by an Indian pair in WODIs, only behind Deepti Sharma-Punam Raut' 320-run stand in 2017 and Reshma Gandhi-Mithali's 258-run partnership in 1999.

Intrestingly, all these three partnerships have come against Ireland.

Meanwhile, the Women in Blue have already taken an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

    Stats

    Here are her ODI numbers

Mandhana smashed 12 fours and seven sixes en route to her 80-ball 135.

Having played 97 WODIs, Mandhana has raced to 4,209 runs at 46.25 with the help of 30 fifties and 10 centuries.

As per ESPNcricinfo, in 47 home matches, she has accumulated 1,958 runs at 43.51 with the help of four tons and 14 fifties.

249 of her runs have come against Ireland at 83.
