'Sanctions against Smith, Warner and Bancroft in 24 hours'
Cricket Australia CEO, James Sutherland announced that there will be heavy sanctions on the three players involved in the ball-tampering incident in the third Test against South Africa. Sutherland stated that only three players Smith, Warner and Bancroft were involved in the incident. They have been suspended and they will fly back home on Wednesday. Sutherland apologized to all fans for the poor conduct.
Only three players knew about ball tampering
Sutherland stated that the key finding is the knowledge of the tampering incident was limited to three players. The media reports had earlier stated that other players too could be involved. The trio will not participate in the fourth test and the new players will fly to South Africa. He also said winning is not more important than ethics and spirit of cricket.
Fall for Smith and Warner after strip of leadership roles
There is a possibility of Warner and Smith to be banned for a year and also stripped of leadership roles permanently. It will be interesting to see what Bancroft faces, who carried out the tampering attempt with a yellow tape. Smith and Warner had stepped down from their leadership positions ahead of fourth day's play. Tim Paine has been named as the official skipper.
Darren Lehmann to continue as Aussie coach
Darren Lehmann will continue as the head coach. Lehmann hasn't appeared in front of the media even once after the ball tampering scandal. Lehmann, who became coach in 2013, will manage the side till the ICC 2019 World Cup.
