Washington Sundar records his joint-best bowling figures in ODIs: Stats
Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar bowled superbly in the 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. He took three wickets as the Lankans racked up 240/9 in 50 overs after electing to bat. Sundar was among the wickets in the middle overs, bringing down the Lankans to 136/6. The off-spinner recorded his joint-best bowling figures in ODI cricket.
Sundar was on hat-trick
Sundar came in as a third-change bowler in the 15th over. He bowled an economical first over before dismissing a well-set Avishka Fernando in his second. This broke the 74-run stand between Fernando and Kusal Mendis. Sundar sent back Mendis too on the first ball of his second over. His final wicket came in the form of SL skipper Charith Asalanka.

Sundar was the pick of India's bowlers in the match. He took three wickets for 30 runs in 10 overs, including a maiden over. His compatriot Kuldeep Yadav scalped two wickets in 10 overs.

Sundar, who made his ODI debut in 2017, has been in and out of the Indian squad due to injuries. However, the all-rounder is at his best currently. He owns 22 wickets in 21 ODIs at 27.13 (ER: 4.77).
