Singaporean-born cricketer Tim David bought by Mumbai Indians
During the accelerated auction for the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League, Singaporean-born Australian cricketer Tim David was snapped up by Mumbai Indians. The Mumbai-based franchise paid Rs. 8.25 crore to acquire the services of the batsman. He plays for the Singapore national team and rose to prominence in the T20 circles after his fireworks at Big Bash League.
David's T20 stats are impressive
David has played 85 T20s to date. In these, he has scored 1,908 runs at a healthy average of 34.69 with a top score of 92*. He has 9 fifties to his name. Notably, he has also played 14 T20Is for the Singapore national team in which he has scored 558 runs. He is currently playing for Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League.

David is the first Singaporean to play in IPL
In 2021, David became the first Singaporean to play in IPL when he represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in a match against Chennai Super Kings. His debut was unimpressive as he could only score a solitary run.
