Shubman Gill, India's newly-appointed ODI vice-captain, slammed a fine half-century in the 1st ODI against England at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur.
Gill reached the mark while anchoring India's chase of 249 runs. He added two substantial partnerships, with Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel, to bolster India's run-chase.
The Indian batter raced to his 14th half-century in ODI cricket.

Gill came in at number three after India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was promoted. India also lost skipper Rohit Sharma in the next over.
However, Gill added a 94-run stand with Iyer, who departed after a counter-attacking knock.
He played second fiddle before breaking the shackles alongside Axar. He duly punished the short balls.
Saqib Mahmood dismissed Gill for a 96-ball 87 (14 fours).
