Shreyas Iyer makes heartwarming gesture for net bowler Jaskiran Singh
What's the story
In a heartwarming gesture, Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer recently gifted a new pair of shoes to net bowler Jaskiran Singh.
The incident took place on February 28, when Singh was fielding at long-on.
"Shreyas bhai came up to me and asked 'what's your shoe size?' I said 10, and then he said I've got something for you and he gave me these spikes," Singh told PTI Videos.
Here's more.
Professional journey
Singh's experience as a net bowler
Singh, a chartered accountant by profession and a cricket fanatic, has previously worked as a net bowler for Pakistan and Bangladesh in Dubai.
But he didn't get a chance to work with the Indian team as they already had a full quota of spinners.
The shoe-gifting incident happened on India's last training day before their match against New Zealand in the ongoing Champions Trophy.

Singh cherishes Iyer's gesture
Singh thanked Iyer for the surprise gift, calling it a special moment in his life.
"Today was one such special moment of my life. Received these spikes from Shreyas Iyer," he said.
He also noted Iyer's importance in the Indian team's batting order, saying "the team relies on him in the event of a top-order collapse."

Singh's admiration for Pant and Iyer's jovial nature
Singh also shared his wish to bowl at Rishabh Pant in the nets, considering Pant's left-handed batting style.
He also emphasized Iyer's playful side during practice sessions.
"Shreyas bhai is really joyful around the field and every time the ball comes to me, he's like 'catch it,'" Singh added.
These insights give us a peek into the camaraderie and spirit of the Indian cricket team.
