Asian Games: Deepak Kumar bags silver in 10m air-rifle shooting
The ongoing Asian Games at Jakarta and Palembang saw ace shooter Deepak Kumar of India win the silver medal in the 10m air rifle shooting event. Kumar narrowly missed out on the top prize to China's Yang Haoran, who created a new Asian Games record by scoring a 249.1 to Kumar's 247.7 India's Ravi Kumar finished fourth in the event. How did the event go for Deepak?
Deepak was almost on the verge of getting eliminated when he was tied at the fourth position with Korea's Song Soojoo. He shot a perfect 10.9 which saw him move up to the third position. Keeping up his amazing form, Kumar shot another near-perfect 10.8 when he was pitted against Lu Shao-Chuan of Chinese Taipei, who won bronze.
A glimpse at Deepak's career till now
Both Ravi and Deepak Kumar had qualified for the main event after finishing fourth and fifth respectively. Deepak has been consistently performing well, making it to the finals of the Commonwealth Games and finishing 5th. He also won the bronze medal at the 2018 Guadalajara World Cup in Mexico. Deepak shot a 627.2 in the CWG qualification round, setting a record in the process.
