IPL: Shivam Dube completes 2,500 T20 runs with fiery half-century
Shivam Dube's dream run in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) continues as he smoked a brilliant half-century against Mumbai Indians in Match 29. The southpaw returned unbeaten on 66 off 38 balls as Chennai Super Kings posted 206/4 while batting first. He smoked 10 boundaries and two sixes. During the course, Dube also completed 2,500 runs and 150 sixes in T20 cricket.
A fine hand from Dube
Dube arrived in the eighth over with the scorecard reading 60/2. He attacked the bowlers straightaway, causing a surge in the scoring rate. Alongside skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (69), he added 90 runs for the second wicket. He continued to bat well after Gaikwad's departure and smoked an unbeaten fifty. MS Dhoni's hat-trick of sixes in the final over meant CSK finished at 206/4.
2,500 runs in T20 cricket
Playing his 128th T20 game, Dube has raced to 2,516 runs at 31.82 as his strike rate reads 141.74. He owns 12 half-centuries in the format. He completed 150 sixes with his second and final maximum in the game. 276 of his runs have come in 21 T20Is for India at 39.42 as the tally includes 15 sixes.
His performance in the IPL
Dube has raced to 1,348 runs in 57 IPL appearances at 31.34. Dube owns close to 90 IPL sixes (88) alongside 70-plus fours (78). He has been a superb performer for CSK in the IPL. Since joining them in 2022, he owns 900-plus runs (949) and 66 sixes. He averages 37.96 for CSK (SR: 158.96).
Second fifty in IPL 2024
Playing his sixth match, Dube owns 200-plus runs (242) in the ongoing IPL season. He has a healthy average of 60.50. He carries a strike rate of 163.51. This was his second fifty this season. His tally of 191 runs in overs between 7 and 15 this season is only second to Rajasthan Royals' Riyan Parag (220).
