Shivam Dube completes 1,000 IPL runs for CSK: Key stats
Shivam Dube has completed 1,000 runs for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. The left-hander reached this landmark in Match 39 against Lucknow Super Giants of IPL 2024 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. He smashed a 27-ball 66 as CSK compiled 210/4(20). Dube has been bolstering CSK's middle order with his blazing knocks. His propensity to clear the rope stands out.
Dube surpasses these veterans
Dube has become the 13th batter to score 1,000 runs for CSK in the IPL. He also went past Dwayne Smith, who scored 965 IPL runs for the Super Kings. Dube, who unlocked this achievement in his 35th encounter, also surpassed Dwayne Bravo (1,004). Notably, Suresh Raina leads the run tally for CSK in the IPL, with 4,687 runs.
Strike rate of over 160 for CSK
Dube has now racked up 1,018 runs from 33 innings for CSK in the IPL. He averages 37.7 and has a strike rate of 161.07 in this regard. His tally also includes eight half-centuries. Interestingly, Dube remains the only player with a 140+ strike rate for CSK (the highest among batters with over 1,000 runs for them).
Dube slams 22-ball fifty in Chennai
CSK were down to 49/2 after losing opener Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell. Gaikwad, who opened with Rahane, then took CSK past 100 along with Ravindra Jadeja. Dube, who joined forces with Gaikwad after Jadeja's departure, clobbered a 22-ball fifty thereafter. While Gaikwad played second fiddle, Dube slammed a 27-ball 66 (3 fours and 7 sixes). He was run-out in the final over.
Dube, a seasoned campaigner
Dube started his IPL journey with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2019. He scored just 169 runs across two seasons before getting released. The tally also included four wickets. Rajasthan Royals (RR) bought Dube in 2021, but his form continued to dip. CSK showed trust in Dube a year later, which resurrected his career. Dube struck at over 155 in IPL 2022 and 2023.
Dube has been in sublime form
Dube's breakthrough IPL season came in 2023 when he smacked 418 runs from 16 matches at a strike rate of 158.33. He helped CSK win their fifth title that year. Dube has been striking at over 165 this year, having slammed over 300 runs. Overall, the left-hander has raced to 1,417 runs in 59 IPL encounters at an average of 31.48.
