Aussie politeness to have no effect on passionate Kohli: Shastri
We all know how passionate Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli is, when it comes to Test cricket. He turns a new chapter every time he sets his foot on to the field. Kohli is a different breed in this format and he has always showed his support for red-ball cricket. And now coach Ravi Shastri has opined that Australia cannot curb Kohli's passion.
Aussies have toned down their aggression
Australia have toned down their aggression after coach Justin Langer took charge post the side's infamous ball-tampering scandal, against Proteas, earlier this year. Under new management, the win-at-all-costs culture doesn't define the spirit of Australian cricket.
Kohli won't take his foot off the gas: Shastri
Before leaving for Australia, Kohli had claimed that he used to feed on the immature things earlier, but this time around, things will be different. Shastri has now warned the Aussies. Shastri said, "He won't take his foot off the gas that is for sure. He loves coming to Australia, he's passionate about his game and the pitches here suit his style of play."
30-year-old Kohli wants a sledge-free contest
The 30-year-old Virat had batted for sledge-free cricket when India and Australia battle it out in the 4-match Test series. He cited that India will depend on ability over aggression. "When it comes to getting engaged in an argument on the field, or in a fight as people want to call it excitedly, I have been completely OK playing without an altercation," said Kohli.
India will have their task cut out
India will have their task cut out against Australia especially after having lost the overseas Test series against South Africa and England in 2018. Even without two of their major assets, Steve Smith and David Warner, we can't rule out Australia. Shastri said that his team should learn from the mistakes made in South Africa and England this year.
'Learning from mistakes will stand India in good stead'
"The way they've played over the last 4-5 years, and the way they played the last time here in Australia (gives confidence). If they learn from the mistakes they've made in some of the earlier tours, it should stand them in good stead."
Kohli's form could make life difficult for Australia
Kohli has been in prime form with the bat in Tests since quite some time. Last time, India toured Australia, Kohli amassed 692 runs in the series. This year he is the highest run-scorer in Tests (1,063). He was also India's top run-getter in the away tours against South Africa and England. Therefore, Aussies need to be wary of the threat named Virat Kohli.
