Sharjeel Khan set to be part of PSL players draft
Tainted opening batsman of Pakistan, Sharjeel Khan, looks all set to be a part of the players' draft in the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Sharjeel was banned for five years by the Anti-Corruption Unit of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for spot-fixing involvement, which got over in August 2019 and is cleared to resume playing competitive cricket. Here is more.
Sharjeel recently cleared PCB's Anti-Corruption unit's written test
As per a source of the PCB, it has been reported that Sharjeel recently appeared in a written test of the PCB's Anti-Corruption Unit, which he passed with flying colors. "He has now been told to travel to Bahawalpur, Sheikhupura, and Karachi where he will give lectures to members of the junior teams taking part in the domestic youth events," the source said.

The source also added that following the completion of his ban, he has managed to abide by all the anti-corruption rehabilitation laws and has been subsequently cleared to resume playing competitive cricket. "In all probability, Sharjeel should be cleared to also feature in the players draft for the PSL," added the source.
Sharjeel was banned by PCB in 2017
In 2017, following an investigation, Sharjeel was found guilty of being involved in a spot-fixing case in the Pakistan Super League, playing for Islamabad United. As a result, the Pakistani board had initially banned him for five years from all forms of cricket. However, the board later decided that half of his ban would remain suspended for the time being.
Who is Sharjeel Khan?
Sharjeel is a left-handed opening batsman who made his debut for Pakistan in December 2013. Since then, he has played in all formats for the nation, scoring 44 Test runs, along with 812 ODI runs and 360 T20I runs. While he plays domestic cricket for Hyderabad, he was associated with Islamabad United in the PSL for two seasons, prior to his ban.
Chance for Sharjeel to start a new chapter
While Sharjeel did suffer a setback and has served his punishment for his wrong-doings, the author feels he should keep his past aside and start his cricketing career afresh. Being a prolific cricketer, this would once again allow his career to get back on track and could scale greater heights. He can take tremendous inspiration from Mohammad Amir, who suffered the same.
