Shardul Thakur likely to play for LSG in IPL 2025
What's the story
Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who went unsold in the IPL mega-auction last year, was seen training in Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) gear, as per The Times of India.
He even celebrated Holi with LSG players.
Meanwhile, this has led to speculation that he might be joining the franchise as an injury replacement for IPL 2025.
However, there has been no official confirmation from the franchise about his status yet.
Career highlights
Thakur's IPL journey and recent performances
Thakur has represented Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant in the past.
In the IPL, he has picked 94 wickets in 95 matches at an average of 30.52 with an economy of 9.23. His best was 4/36.
He was a part of CSK in IPL 2024 but was released ahead of the mega-auction.
Meanwhile, he bagged five wickets in nine matches during the 2024 edition.
Team challenges
LSG's injury woes and Thakur's potential inclusion
LSG are already dealing with injuries to pacers Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan.
With less than a week left for IPL 2025 to begin, their availability remains uncertain.
This makes Thakur's potential addition to the team seem logical as he could significantly bolster LSG's pace attack.
Currently, Akash Deep is part of the squad as an Indian fast bowler.
