Reports claim Shakib Al Hasan broke the dressing room window
Reports have emerged that Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan was responsible for shattering the dressing room window. The incident happened post the encounter between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the virtual semi-final of Nidahas Trophy in Colombo. Tempers flared between the two sides and after the fixture, the dressing room window of the Bangladesh team was found broken.
On-field spat broke out between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka
The on-field spat erupted between the players of both teams during the final over of the fixture. Reserve player Nurul Hasan, who was asked to send a message to the batsmen in the middle, got into an argument with the Sri Lankans. Even captain Shakib Al Hasan walked down the stairs and signaled for his players to come back and forfeit the match.
Did angry players shatter the dressing room window?
The tiff did not end there, the dressing room window of the Bangladesh team was reportedly broken by the players. Bangladesh Cricket Board chief Nazmul Hasan apologised for the incident but the match referee spoke to caterers to find out who was behind this act.
Shakib pleaded guilty to the crime
According to a report in Sri Lankan newspaper, The Island, the caterers have informed the match referee that Shakib Al Hasan forcefully pushed the door causing this damage. Post the match, Shakib was awarded one demerit point for his role in the clash.
