    Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam hammered a gritty fifty in the third innings of the ongoing second Test against India in Kanpur.

    The southpaw showcased resilience during his 50-run stay though he departed right after getting the landmark.

    Notably, this was his maiden half-century against India in whites and his third overall in Tests.

    A fine hand from Shadman

    Bangladesh, who had a first-innings deficit of 52 runs, lost two early wickets in their third innings.

    However, Shadman negotiated the Indian bowlers brilliantly and returned unbeaten at stumps on Day 4.

    He continued the good work on Day 5 morning and brought up a fine half-century.

    He eventually fell prey to pacer Akash Deep.

    Shadman Islam departed after scoring 50 off 101 balls, having smoked 10 fours.

    151 of his runs have come versus India at 19. He has completed 605 runs away from home at 27.50.

    How has the match proceeded?

    An unbeaten century from Mominul Haque helped Bangladesh finish at 230/10 batting first.

    As the second and third days of the contest got washed out, India went with an ultra-aggressive approach and declare at 285/9.

    KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored fifties. The Tigers are now pushing the game for a draw. They were 93/5 at the time of Shadman's departure.
