Serena welcomes a new member to the family
Tennis star Serena Williams has given birth to her first child, a baby girl. Her coach Patrick Mouratoglou broke the news on Twitter today as he wrote, "Congratulations @SerenaWilliams for your baby girl. I am so happy for you and I feel your emotion." Serena has been out of action after winning the Australian Open earlier this year because of pregnancy.
Serena was pregnant when she won the Australian Open
As already mentioned, Serena has been out action since winning the Australian Open in January. Later on, it was discovered that she had been close to two months pregnant at the time! After a wild day of speculation, she herself confirmed that she was indeed pregnant. Just a few months back, she had unexpectedly announced her engagement to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.
No pressure baby Serena!
Serena is widely considered as the greatest ever female tennis player. She has 23 Grand Slam singles titles to her name. She has also won 72 WTA titles through her career. Her sister, Venus, is also a very successful player. Given the genes that the baby is inheriting, it won't be a surprise if she takes to tennis!
