Wimbledon: All about Serena Williams versus Simona Halep finale clash

    What's the story

Serena Williams will be up against Simona Halep in the summit clash of the women's singles at Wimbledon 2019.

23-time singles Grand Slam winner Serena is one victory away from a record-equalling 24th title.

Former number one Halep will be out to stop Serena.

It's her first Wimbledon final appearance.

    Here is the preview.

    Semis

How did the two perform in the semis?

Romania's Halep beat Elina Svitolina 6-1, 6-3 to reach her maiden final at the All England Club.

She played a strong brand of tennis and never allowed Svitolina to settle down.

Svitolina didn't take her chances and made some poor decisions.

Meanwhile, Serena tamed Barbora Strycova 6-1, 6-2.

The veteran tennis ace and seven-time Wimbledon champion took just 59 minutes to seal victory.

    Stat attack: Serena vs Halep

Halep has won just one of her 10 meetings with legend Serena.

That sole victory came at the WTA Finals in 2014.

Serena is vying for her maiden Slam since the 2017 Australian Open victory.

This is her 11th finale appearance at the Wimbledon.

For Halep, this is her fourth finale appearance at a Grand Slam.

She has won just one Slam so far.

Halep feels mentally stronger facing Serena

"I will believe that I have my chance to win against her. Of course, I respect a lot what she has done and what she's doing. But now I feel stronger mentally facing her," said the 27-year-old Halep.

Serena enters Slam final for 13th consecutive year

Serena set another record after her semi-finals victory.

She is now into a Grand Slam final for the 13th consecutive year.

After losing two Slam finals in 2018, this is a massive chance for Serena to come good.

"It's good, especially after my year. I just needed some matches. I know I'm improving and I just needed to feel good," said Serena.

    Information

What to expect from the women's singles final?

It's going to be a cracking tie between two players who haven't lost any intensity during the tourney. Halep is more mature now and will provide a stern challenge. Serena's experience may come into play here. She cannot afford to repeat last year's show.
