Virender Sehwag wants this 2011 WC hero to join ILT20
What's the story
Former Indian cricketer and current cricket expert Virender Sehwag has wished for retired Indian players to play in the UAE's International League T20 (ILT20) tournament.
Sehwag specifically named India's 2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh, whom he would like to see play in the tournament.
Sehwag is currently commentating for the ongoing ILT20 tournament in UAE.
Appeal
Sehwag's appeal to retired Indian cricketers
Sehwag, who retired from all forms of cricket in October 2015, still plays in leagues for retired cricketers while also serving as a cricket expert.
He made his appeal ahead of the ILT20 2025 Qualifier 2 and Final.
"I would love to see Indian players here," Sehwag said in a media release, adding that he would particularly enjoy watching Yuvraj Singh play in the tournament.
Participation
Indian cricketers in ILT20
Sehwag's appeal comes as India's 2007 T20 World Cup-winning player Robin Uthappa has already played in the ILT20, representing Dubai Capitals.
This indicates that there is room for more Indian cricketers to join the tournament.
Sehwag also spoke highly of Dubai Capitals skipper David Warner, saying he would love to have a partnership with him during a media interaction.
Admiration
Sehwag's admiration for Warner
Notably, Sehwag and Warner have opened the batting for Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils) in IPL before.
Warner recently scored an unbeaten 93 against Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, taking his team Dubai Capitals to the final match of ILT20 2025 against Desert Vipers on February 9.
This performance has only further cemented Sehwag's admiration for the Australian cricketer.
