BCCI-CoA hearing adjourned by SC
The hearing on the Justice Lodha Committee reforms has been adjourned by the Supreme Court until July 4. The amicus curiae was expected to present comments and suggestions of the Committee of Administrators (CoA) in their quest to change the functioning of Indian cricket. A resolution was expected on Friday but the court's decision means the saga will continue until July.
Case postponed yet again
The Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra wanted the next hearing to be on May 15, but amicus curiae Gopal Subramanium is believed to be on a leave and hence the the hearing has been postponed.
The matters that lie in front of SC
The primary matter that would be discussed in the court is regarding the contentious 'one state one vote' mandate. Other important thing is the three-year cooling period that BCCI is against but was suggested by the CoA. The CoA also wants the top office bearers of BCCI removed. The SC had agreed to visit some of the key matters presented by BCCI.
New selection process on cards?
The SC had earlier stated that once they finalize the BCCI constitution, a key point will be the the eligibility criteria of the selectors. Till now, there is a provision of three selectors and all should have played Test cricket. This is going to change.
