    Pakistan batter Saud Shakeel has been sensational in the opening Test versus Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.

    Shakeel, who was unbeaten on 57 on a rain-hit Day 1, has completed a century in the second day.

    The left-handed batter attained a unique milestone on Day 1. He completed 1,000 Test runs ane became the joint-fastest Pakistan player to do so.

    Shakeel joins this elite list

    As mentioned, Shakeel became the joint-fastest Pakistan player to complete 1,000 runs in Test cricket. He achieved the mark in his 20th innings.

    Saeed Ahmed held the previous record, having taken 20 innings for the same.

    Sadiq Mohammad (22 innings)and Javed Miandad (23 innings) are next on the list among Pakistan players.

    Shakeel slams his 3rd Test century

    Shakeel made his Test debut in December 2022 against England.

    In 11 matches, Shakeel averages 68-plus currently. In addition to three tons, he also owns six fifties.

    This is Shakeel's maiden outing against the Tigers.

    Notably, Shakeel owns over 5,700 runs in FC cricket. He hammered his 20th century in the longest format.

    Shakeel and Rizwan floor Bangladesh

    Day 1 saw Pakistan finish on 158/4 as only 41 overs were possible. Shakeel was unbeaten on 57 and Rizwan managed 24. Rizwan had joined Shakeel when Pakistan were 114/4. On Day 2, both batters converted their respective starts into centuries to floor Bangladesh.
