Our fielding needs improvement, says Sarfaraz ahead of India clash
Pakistan cricket team skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed has warned his side ahead of the gigantic clash against India in the ICC World Cup 2019. The Men in Green were poor against Australia on the field as they lost the encounter by 41 runs on Wednesday. Sarfaraz feels that the fielding needs improvement. Here's more on the same.
Pakistan were hopeless on the field against Australia
Pakistan leaked runs on the field and missed some sitters as well. Asif Ali was the culprit on two occasions as he put down the catches of Aaron Finch and David Warner. Finch's one proved to be costly as he went on to score 82 after being dropped on 26. Warner, who decided to upper cut Wahab Riaz, was then let off by Ali.
The fielding is not up to the mark: Sarfaraz
"We need to improve because if we want to beat bigger teams like Australia and India then all three aspects of the game are crucial. Definitely, I think the fielding needs improvement -- the fielding is not up to the mark," said a disappointed Sarfaraz.
Pakistan's poor show not just limited to fielding
Pakistan's mistakes weren't limited to just fielding. They bowled badly at the start of Australia's innings, but somehow managed to make a comeback. While batting, some of their set batsmen played rash shots to get out and that saw them surrendering the momentum. Pakistan cannot afford to be sloppy against India by any means on June 16 in Manchester. Sarfaraz outlined the same.
Sarfaraz outlines the need ahead of clash against India
"We won a good toss but didn't bowl well in the first 30 overs. I think losing three wickets in the space of 15 balls was the turning point. We have to overcome our mistakes because India are also a very strong team," he added.
Pakistan have been inconsistent in World Cup 2019
Pakistan have been inconsistent in the 2019 World Cup. They have lost two games already. Sarfaraz's side beat England and also saw their match against Sri Lanka get washed out. The next encounter against India is crucial for Pakistan to revive their campaign. They haven't beaten India in the history of the World Cup. It's a huge task in hand.
Pakistan need to improve their quality on the field
Mohammad Amir has been the only shining light in this Pakistani outfit. He will be the key figure against India. Sarfaraz's side needs to improve their batting and fielding in particular. The other bowlers will have to rally around Amir.
