Irani Cup: Sarfaraz Khan slams his 15th First-Class century
Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan has slammed his 15th century in First-Class cricket. The Indian batter reached the landmark on Day 2 of the Irani Cup match against Rest of India in Lucknow. Sarfaraz joined skipper Ajinkya Rahane, who rescued the Ranji Trophy champions after they were 37/3, with ROI inviting them to bat. The former continues his incredible form in red-ball cricket.
Sarfaraz counter-attacked en route to his ton
Sarfaraz came in at number four after Rahane and Shreyas Iyer steadied Mumbai's ship (139/4). He joined his skipper Rahane, as the duo didn't let ROI gain impetus. While Rahane continued with his defensive approach, Sarfaraz counter-attacked from the other end. Although the latter lost Rahane and Shams Mulani in quick succession, Sarfaraz went on to complete his century.
A look at his First-Class stats
As mentioned, Sarfaraz has raced to his 15th century in First-Class cricket. He has over 4,200 runs from just 51 FC matches at an incredible average of more than 66. His tally also includes 14 half-centuries. Sarfaraz, who recently broke into India's Test side, owns 200 runs at 50 in the format. He has three half-centuries in five innings.
